Why did I fail Knowledge-Based Authentication (KBA)?

You may have encountered an error when opening a 529 education savings account if the authentication process failed. This typically happens when the answers provided during Knowledge-Based Authentication (KBA) don’t match the expected verification details.

KBA is a security measure that verifies your identity by asking questions based on your personal history (e.g., past addresses, financial records, etc.). It helps ensure that only authorized individuals can access and sign sensitive documents.

Don't worry, you can try again right away. Just make sure to carefully review and answer the KBA questions accurately.

  1. Sign up again here.
  2. Provide your personal and beneficiary information, including birth date and Social Security Number (SSN).
  3. E-sign the DocuSign agreement.
  4. That's it!
